Rezare Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast

Description: Rezare Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast offers comfortable, characterful accommodation with an emphasis on good food and sustainability. We have been awarded 4 Stars and a Silver Award in VisitBritain's quality scheme, and a Silver Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Dogs are welcome. Situated in a quiet, peaceful hamlet within the Tamar Valley AONB on the Cornwall / Devon border, midway between Bodmin moor and Dartmoor, you will be perfectly placed to explore the region's many and varied attractions. These include beautiful walking, cycling and horse riding country; canoeing, sailing, salmon and sea trout fishing on the River Tamar; stunning coastlines; many places of historical interest, including a number of National Trust properties and gardens; and a strong regional food culture.

The house itself is full of character, with many original features still in place. The main section was built some time in the mid - late 1600's, a mixture of granite, slate, and whatever other stone was to hand being used for the walls on the ground floor, cob on the first floor, with several extensions added over the centuries, none less than a couple of hundred years ago. The age of the property doesn't mean that you will be missing out on modern facilities, however; for instance, guests have free access to our secured wifi network from all rooms in the house. Three-course meals are available most evenings and make full use of the fact that we have many excellent producers and suppliers of meat, fish, vegetables and cheeses locally. We use seasonal produce whenever possible, from our own vegetable garden when available, and use ingredients that speak for themselves, cooking them simply and with care, with the minimum of fuss. All special dietary requirements are catered for, and if you have any particular likes or dislikes we will be happy to take them into consideration. We are licensed, and stock a range of award-winning, locally produced wines, beers and ciders.

Location: Because the Tamar Valley forms the boundary between Cornwall and Devon, it is often overlooked by those travelling to Cornwall for their holidays. For this reason it retains a quiet, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere in which to visit its many hidden attractions, and provides an excellent base from which to explore the wider area. Enjoy the river, either by hiring a rowing boat with outboard motor, taking a guided canoe trip, or helping to sail a small gaff-rigged boat. Take a scenic train journey on the Tamar Valley Line, from Gunnislake down to Plymouth, maybe stopping off at one or two of the small villages en route for something to eat and drink. See the area at a slower pace by taking advantage of numerous public footpaths ( including the Tamar Trail ) or by cycling along quiet country lanes, or even in a hot air balloon. Fish for salmon or sea trout on one of the most beautiful stretches of river in the country. Visit one of the numerous gardens and nurseries throughout the area. Beyond the valley, and within easy reach of it, Cornwall and Devon offer much to see and do, including: The wide, open spaces of Bodmin and Dartmoor. Miles of coast paths with sandy beaches, small coves, tiny fishing villages built around natural harbours within the high cliffs, from which you might spot seals, dolphins or even basking shark. Many grand old houses with beautiful gardens that benefit from being located on the edge of the Gulf Stream, and so support extraordinary tropical plants. Remains of intense mining activities, whose technological inventions were at the forefront of the Industrial Revolution and exported worldwide. A new wave of small food and drink producers who are responsible for this part of the country fast developing a reputation for excellent produce based upon the simple principles of sustainability, quality ingredients and enthusiasm. The world famous Eden Project ( 45 minutes drive ).
