Description: Fair Rigg is a traditional Lakeland house, designed and built of local slate at the end of the 19th century by a local builder for his own occupation. It was converted in 2002 to provide stylish guest house accommodation, with all modern amenities while retaining many original architectural features. The house enjoys a country setting and yet remains within easy walking distance of Bowness and the shore of Lake Windermere. Designed to take full advantage of its hillside location the house has fine views, with most rooms looking out over fields and trees to the lake and fells beyond. There are 6 bedrooms (5 double, of which 3 are king size, and one twin, one is on the ground floor), all designed to lift your spirits - light, fresh and clean, and of good size with plenty of room to relax and unwind, -- perhaps for that special occasion??? Just right for spending the evening in. Each room is individually decorated and furnished in carefully coordinated style, with comfortable chairs or settee, and equipped with television, video, hairdryer, toiletries, and many extra touches, not forgetting the usual hospitality tray. We are particularly proud of our beautiful dining room, with bay window looking out to the hills, a memorable setting for your leisurely Cumbrian breakfast. Choose what you like from the range of cereals, fruits, juices, yoghurts etc on the sideboard, and follow up with our wholesome, delicious cooked breakfast fare, prepared using top quality produce. Our private car park adjoins the house. Location: Fair Rigg is just outside Bowness, on the south side. Away from the bustle but within easy reach of a wide range of amenities including numerous restaurants and shops. It takes 15 minutes for the average walker to walk into the centre of Bowness, or there is a very good local taxi service if preferred. Just 500 yards down the hill from us the lakeside, the Hawkshead car ferry, and the Windermere Marina. We are surrounded by good walking country. |
